October's end

Well, a little early calendar wise, but Halloween is a time a big time suck here, and Thursday will be mostly prepping the decorations and handing out candy.  Friday will be  the first day of  November, and in my mind high autumn blending into an early winter.  This means priming season is almost over, no excuses not to paint what has been readied.

So, a game 'in the spirit' o the holiday, I presented a medley of Burrows & Badgers with the Land of Ozz.

But first some selections of the weekly show & tell.  Most of these are Roger's, he was making up for missing a week.

First up some 1/700 scale aircraft .  Various extras to kits of naval forces in that tiny scale.

Couldn't resist playing with this clamshell open model in 1/700.

Next up is some of Roger's 15mm armor.

The obligatory 88mm and prime mover. A pair of platoon leader versions of the half track w/37mm guns.  Looks like a desert  foray soon to be announced.

Futurama - a space marine, chapter home grown, and one of Roger's Stargrave crews.

There are a lot more photos, unfortunately they all were fuzzy and did not add detail to enjoy.  The photos, that is.

And last but not least, part of the group of adventurers for the game.

The game itself?  Two bands of adventurers attempt to negotiate a patch of woods on the wrong night. Fog appears...and then in the fog, well, maybe the pictures are a better tell.  The attraction of the day was the netting as woodland floor.  My wife (and fashion consultant for all things marked autumn/Halloween) offered the dark brown open weave scrim.... and I think it was atmospheric. Your mileage may vary.

Part of Greg's band, featured before, basically based around flying creatures.

They ran afowl (sic) of the local Pumpkin-ocracy.

Rogers band of bunnies. They has better luck in avoiding the locals, although there were a few tense moments.

The table was set up as three ways through the forest. I used the scenario #11 from the B&B rulebook , basically a walk in the park-with fog added. Figures had to individually check each turn , getting lost, frozen in place, or actually letting the player move them.  As forces closed, accidental and intentional melees occurred.

All good fun, Roger had a scamper through the woods and bad guys while Greg's dice were his worst enemy, scattering his critters as well as making inconvenient attacks on the tougher enemy models.

I tried out some Pumpkin headed beings and 'living scarecrow'  beings, as well as the boss type leaders in an attempt at a Halloween theme and a set of extra factions for B&B , although I think "Silver Bayonet, the Pumpkin Patch Wars" is more likely.

BTW, locally we were using the "Harvest Men" as a boogeyman term before Frostgrave/Stargrave/Silver Bayonet made them an item.  Just sayin'.

Next few Fridays are a series of Stargrave romps, my third foray at the local store's Tanksgiving, and hopefully some of my own figures get painted.

 Obviously a W.I.P.

Nice artillery, planes and stargrave crew and a fun festive themed AAR, I've lost the Runequest pumkin man I had, which is a pity as he was a great figure!
Best Iain

We will need to pick a date to play. November is almost filled up, and December is very limited for non hobby stuff.
