Slowly I turned

Approached by a gaming friend who asked about Anno Domini 1666 games, I suggested a meet the weekend.  so on May 4th we have scheduled Murder in the Tavern a/k/a the introductory scenario. Nice and tight, the claustrophobic setting of a crowded 'dive bar' and the tactical situation leaves no doubt that some one is getting hurt.  In fact, make it multiple casualties.

The Tavern, scene of scenario, also a good hiding place !

So we played another scenario in the Swords of Light and four  campaign...hard to believe that the last game was last year. The heir was kidnapped, this resulted being brought to the attention to the Inquisition.  The Poles were tapped to recapture the heir from....their old adversaries, the King's Musketeers.

Basic layout

A very fuzzy photo of the bad guys, aka the blue team.

Blue team to advance at start. Zagloba watches from a 'safe' vantage.

Blinded by the light of the unpainted Dumas figure, most of the Red Team. It seems I manage to have one unpainted figure per AAR.

The blue team (French Musketeers and a couple of Broken Cross figures) had to get the Elector's son off the board by a certain turn.

After a turn or two, the Blue team needs to pick up the pace.

Actually after turn one, showing the entire board.

Red Team (mostly Poles) attempts to block.

Two of the Polish characters sadly were out of place to do much good, and despite running out of time, the Blue team won on points as they still controlled the hostage. Combats were relatively even in outcome, except for Sister Agatha, the whip carrying close combat hero of the Order of the Broken Cross.

Sister Agatha's pushing back a Dragoon and Szhretuski by making them prone in HTH.

Nasty combination of weapon and skill.

We will have a few more games of AD1666 over the summer as we finish The  Swords of Light and Dark campaign scenarios.

Jonathan,
O boy, I will need to do better jobs on the AAR'S. I get so much from yours, it's time to reciprocate.

Matt,
It is a terrific system. It probably has legs beyond the supplied scenarios.
