Probably the last post for 2025

Looking for a possible game set in  space?

GMT's Space Empires is a recent addition to my collection. Nice mounted board, the hexes are 1 1/2 inches across.

There's an amazing amount of detail and ways to interact with the rules, making each game very different. Huge solo and co-operative gaming potential.

While at first glance daunting, the charts are easy to use and provide a wealth of organization to play.

With the winter storm season upon us, I am looking forward to some solo gaming in space! For a more coherent review:

More down to earth, here are a few more photos of the assault on Grodno.  The accuracy of the bombardments led to the heavy casualties in the first turns which equated to difficult morale tests being missed by the rifle battalion.

Ready to advance on suppressed Russian units.

Infantry gun section in support.

( Very veteran models albeit lacking paint. This is what happens when your opponent has always deployed the one side and his toys are unavailable. ) German battalion commanders and staff overlooking operation.

Good old top down look at table in full glory of barrage markers.

The ambient temperature in the basement is around 50 degrees.  Most of the border zone games will be done in pieces until spring.

50 degrees in the basement is cold! You need to ask for a space heater for Christmas. I have not seen the GMT game before. Off to visit their website for details. Merry Christmas!

Neil, the combat is multi stepped and has a wide range of results.

Jonathan, thanks, but 50 degree has been done as a standard for all my solo table games. The GM

If the basement is 50 degrees, maybe time for some winter scenarios :)

The reviews of the game say the tables are actually helpful in the game.

Hey Joe that game looks interesting! I’ll be looking into it as well.
And your battle looked good.
I’ve gone in deep on my dark age imagi-nation project. I hope to have everything ready to go by end of January. That’s me being very optimistic as I have two hundred and eighty to figures to paint….

Happy New Year Joe - the ambient temp sounds warm to me - but that's because I think in centigrade! Maybe this is just Immersive, "method" wargaming, suffering similar temperatures to the Russian front, so you get a true sense of the experience?!

Except we usually play summer scenarios!
