Some friday photos

Well, entering week three of post op for my wife's hip replacement.   She is doing really well. She is the type who does what she's signed on for...no complaining, just get on with it.  I would be much less good as a patient.  The walker lasted barely over a week and she is ready to try some steps without the cane,

Anyway, we ventured out on Wednesday for a bite at a local sports bar, albeit too early in the afternoon to catch nay of the games scheduled. Some "corned beef nachos" and chicken wings in BBQ and we were back home and full.  Slow but  steady we have now tried two local eateries since surgery.

Friday saw the three old guys get back in the swing, a quick game of Silver Bayonet and some show and tell. Roger's first up with an ECW  unit, a War of the Roses unit, and his Daharran Lancers (his imagination country's force.)

I did manage to catch them Lancers before they sped on to become blurry to photograph. (Private joke unless you follow Roger's blog.)

Next up were the various new companies for the Canada expansion of Silver Bayonet.  Upper/Lower Canada and a Trading Company were procured and painted by Roger and Greg.

I am not quite sure which company is which in the photos.  I am dreadfully behind in getting ready for the Canadian supplement, except for, well, you'll see.

Strangely enough we played Scenario one first.  Yeah, shocking.  It is a bit of an outlier in set up. The playing area is 30 inches by 30 inches---with an 18 inch wide river running through it. Four logjams and several piles of wreckage graced the waters...whee unfortunately lived a spirit. And not a friendly one.

Yes all teeth and not happy to see them!

Greg supplied the logjams and river deep channel.

Of course Greg rolled for the first turn's initiative and sprung the biggest, meanest baddie in the scenario. Except for the casting on the logjam in red, his group escaped attack and peppered the gribbly with several musket and blunder buss hits , wounding but not deterring. As per the rules, the river monster then returns to the depths, ready for the next turn.

Evidently a stickler for following the rules,
the gribbly uses his bounding speed to attack Roger's party.

The river spirit was an all company equal opportunity attacker.  The counter by Roger's men was a hail of fire which added to the hurt remaining from Greg's force.  It was all too much for the river monster who skulked off not to be seen  after turn two.

All that remained was the collection of various blankets  and pelts. Could have been very different.

Do the wave...alternate river monster. Not too tall, but over six inches of fury.

Reverse sighting.
Post game, nearer completion.

The game was a  victory over the gribbly forces, but the watchmen carry on.

I have more news, coming later.

Jonathan, Thanks for the thoughts, our routine is slowly coming back. There is something to be said about warmer weather as well.

I have done some campaign work on the imaginations continent and two largish battles approach.

Matt,
my wife is getting out and has shoved me out of the kitchen for dinner.... she is well enough to be tired of me cooking.
My stints at the hobby table have gotten a little longer and therefore more productive.
For the last several weeks the duties keeping house & support looked like the last photo, chomping all temporal assets.

Peter,
Thanks, Pat is definitely on the mend. Friday is often more show and tell and planning the next big thing than actual play!
