Oh what a lovely setttlement--AAAAAH! AAAHH! AAAAHH! Stargrave Starport under attack scenario
For our last Stargrave scenario from the core book we played StarPort Raid!
This included a mad dash towards safety, turning crew upon crew, bounty hunters and worse, trying to take us, our ships and crew mates hostage or just our bodies. A few photos this time, although to document the fight some flight of fancy talking will be needed.
Greg's force has entered top left on the table and of the action quickly set the mood. Whereas previous games featured self restraint, his initially firing on my team was a clue for what was to come.
Roger arrived top right on the table and pushed his group much more directly to getting off quickly and didn't fire at either of our crews .
Now the problems started for my crew the very first. We had all pulled a side gig card. Mine never did come into play, Roger had a benevolent mission that had no effect on others ....and Greg got to play the Shape shifter card on one of my crew. In effect, one of my crew got replaced with an alien bounty hunter, one very near my crew and in a position to cause harm.
As expected, a flurry of shooting followed. The first two of my crew hit, bringing wounds halfway to getting the threat nullified, then of course the next 5 attacks whiffed. It took two turns of effort to bring the beast down. To make matters worse, additional roving enemies appeared, took my crew as targets and threatened my line of escape.
Add to this Greg shooting at and sending drones and a dog after me & mine; well let's just say I felt put upon.
After enduring two turns of the cross fire, I was able to eliminate the dog and drone, as well as the wandering enemies. Turn 4 had Greg deploy a second drone, and my 2d in command took control of the drone. I startled the ambushing crew by taking out two shooters. I managed only short moves due to the necessity of taking care to line up shots.
During this time two more wandering enemies groups showed up, over 5 bad guys gunning for the crews.
Then, things got interesting. Both Greg's captain and First Mate were wounded and next to each other. The First Mate was levitating in some fashion. My captain figure was close by. My captain had been carrying a weapon for 8 games that had not been used. This was an opportunity for the first use of the flamer. The results were about as good as I could have gotten; Greg's crew watched in horror as both leaders were burnt by the flames, both dying fiery deaths. The armor they wore did no good.
Sorry, no photo of the flame attack---it is just as well, it was horrific.
Gratifying as the last turn had been, we needed to roll up the session as time to finish arrived. Roger's company had fewer losses and some loot and probably came out best. Greg lost so many crew, including both officers , that most income was diverted to buying them back and requisitions for lost gear.
Having dropped the one loot token due to use of the flamer, my crew was poorer but wiser, netting no credits but gaining the maximum amount of experience for a scenario .
We take a break from our Friday meeting this last Friday in November. Don't worry, you can solve tactical problems with me on several solo projects.
Last minute addition. Picked this up at a 'garage sale' (seasonal flea market ) at the Tabletop store, half price. Gonna relive glory days with my children and grandchildren.
Yes, there is micro armor action planned in the near future.
