Steam, live steam!
Probably a misquote from "Sand Pebbles " but fun enough.
We started November's Friday round of games featuring Stargrave with a really fun jump into the core book scenario Steam Vents of the Undercity.
Three intrepid bands came in, killed the monster... a sewer dragon, rustling up some loot and then returned to their ships basically intact. A lean into a campaign extra, we each took, and benefited from a Side Hustle, more on this later. I also rolled to see if there was not a pre or post game encounter for my force, but things were quiet in the verse.
At the session end I was horrified to realize my complete lack of photos of the session. What follows is a reenactments of the fictitious event. This post entry truly reflects the blog 's motto.
The above shows most of my crew, the Troll standing in as sewer dragon, Greg's nifty new black surface game mat, my usual rendition of boxes and sci fi terrain. Way in the background are two of Roger's crew.
The crews came on from the corners, a 30 inch by 30 inch board was used. We ( sorry, my crew) avoided the first two steam outbreaks, and quickly owned some data loot counters.. The sewer dragon attack was all on my poor minions, but a concerted effort to bring the beast down with firepower worked.
First round, all three Captains get a win.
The data loot fulfilled the side hustle requirements, a physical loot counter was gravy.
My Side Hustle was very rich....800 credits, with only the stipulation of spending the entire amount on the ship, no carry over, no transfer of funds, oh so happy to comply! The additional 200 credits from sales of the physical loot is added to my account for a total of 1360. Did I mention enough experience earned for an advance?
Side Hustle is an add on to the game where a captain can take on an additional job, optionally in addition to the scenario requirements for added gain.
So better ship, a bigger bank, a safe crew. Next up, a trip to the Floating Mines. What could go wrong?
I have now updated my crew roster. Next game it should be more effective.
