AD1666 Factions-the French, Three Musketeers.

Okay, so some you mentioned that you could use a tour of the AD1666 factions,  especially if the group is painted and some of why it is unique is included.

The Musketeers are the iconic group, for the English speaking  player anyway.  So do expect for heroes Porthos, Athos and Aramis as well as D'Artagnan.  There are three or four Musketeer figures to back up the heroes.

Athos

Porthos

Aramis

Jean and Natalie

Musketeers for backup

D'Artagnan and Athos

Since the emphasis is on close range pistols,  hth and sword fighting you will find that the  Musketeers stats are very useful for your attacks. The style of each hero is slightly different,  skills and stats seem well suited to making Porthos,  well  Porthos, with strength and panache and D'Artagnan the D'Artagnan. The Musketeers have skills with the sword and are able to parry. Aramis and D'Artagnan both have some of the agile ability.  Athos is a leader and has a wonderful reputation for being able to resist the wiles of most females.

There is one expansion of the group available,  a two character set of Jean and Natalie.  Two disparate individuals with skills that supplement the main group and each other.  Jean is a rather good shot with a musket,  lending some accurate long range firepower.  Natalie is a small but  clever flower girl who has not only flowers but a horse pistol in her basket.  She has a skill called inconspicuous.

Which allows an attempt to attack undetected at close range, mainly by firing the pistol! Cheeky little girl.

So if fighting with Swords up close appeals, the steadfast Musketeers are a good choice, the addition of Jean and Natalie add a lot of options to the approach you can take.

The game includes a group that includes the Lady DeWinter and Robespiere; with Cardinal Richelieu and members of the Red Guard this provides classic glorious opponents for the Musketeers.  But that is a whole 'nother story.

Sorry Joe, I think Athos is in trouble, he may need to go buy some Viagra!

Yep, a lot of the swords are doing that.

Keith, Highly recommend it. It is expensive and I fear shipping costs may be harsh as the kit is heavy. You buy the base set, get the Poles and Three Musketeers. Other factions come as add-ons. There are two expansions, one for 3 to 4 player scenarios, and the Swords of Light and Darkness set.
