Command Decision Test of Battle planning phase.

Another fine set of WW2 rules,  one that essentially kept the WW2 games hopping here for years at a time. Reinforcements having been identified and resources marshalled, a new set of games in  the 1941 Eastern Front during the second half 2025.

Greg and Roger are both  commanding battalions of infantry as well as a second role  commanding  mobile kampfgruppe.

I will provide Russian commands to the meat  grinder and also run the options for the  next highest German command.  The supply chain and replacement action and reinforcements will be table driven.

I have unit weapon sheets ready for German and Russian forces, got an idea for stand/unit identifiers, and have located the units in their storage boxes. I believe the last time these were on table is for the game with the label Bar25 campaign.

One of the biggest hurdles to quickly learning the rules of the game is the need to ID units for command and control.  I have an idea that  using sabots under the unit will help the flow of the early games.

I mean FeldGrau is FeldGrau!

Eventually the the sabots can be dispensed with for later battles. It may prove that the information is not needed to get through the process.  Well, the bases will not be wasted.

In the meantime, the Battalion/company relationship is shown, as well as the type of command stand.

The German army has joint command stands in the infantry companies. Battalion and higher commands have  'pure'   command stands.
We will try the sabot idea in the next CD game. The Soviet Army is similar in using joint commands as well as 'pure' command stands.  The Soviets simply have far fewer options

Pure command stand.  Lonely at the top.

Thank you! 20mm is a great scale. Just enough detail.

I am ready for the next few months having at least a game every three to four weeks. Thanks for the kind words. They are fun to paint.

Joe, great looking minis.
I’ve always thought that gaming in 20mm was perfect for most rule sets. I played a good amount of Basic Impetus using 1/72 plastics.

Great stuff Joe - I certainly recognise the Command Decision moniker - but is that just from purchasing 15mm figures from Old Glory eons ago...can't say for sure!

Maybe my Ral Partha small 25's would fit!

Yep, same moniker. You'll see some OG 15's when we shift to the North African scenarios.

Good to know someone is still dabbling in a ruleset and scale I had thought had gone the way of the dinosaur (or the Test of Battle forum if you want something less hyperbolic). Looking forward to seeing this progress!
