Who said it better, any how

It's just after dawn. My wife and our dog sleep,  yet I am up and mentally going over the pieces and parts needed for today's game.  In 1/200 scale,  the Yorktown is being attacked by the Japanese carrier forces; the C.A.P.  for the carrier is ready and all packed up.

Met with the crew of players who were Greg, Mike and Ron.  Ron has been the USN player and one of the two modelers of the US Yorktown.

Thirty IJN torpedo and dive bombers were able to get a good workout. Twelve Zeros are attempting to screen.

The pride of my USN effort, 18 fighters posed as CAP over the Yorktown.  Three groups , actually 6 each Wildcat Hellcat and Corsairs were all played as Wildcats as the actual battle takes place in June of 1942 and the newer aircraft are months from deployment.

While very few planes were splashed the squadrons of Bombers each took enough damage to cause the squadrons to break off the attack. And after 90 minutes of play, it was over. The first wave had failed to take out the Yorktown.

The Wildcats took advantage of the lumbering approach and dove, shot at and generally made life difficult,  too difficult to press the attack home.

In his duties as host, Ron mentioned that refights could happen in the future.  Bravo!
