Galactic rematch, sorta
Friday afternoon, Galactic Knights rules, 1500 points. Carnivores versus Terrans
Sounds familiar.
Commodore Hopper prepared for the enemy by keeping a line formation and tightly controlled drift in the deployment and first move.
Initial deployment
End move 1
Commodore Hopper's moving at flank speed to close to long range. The Terran are supporting in order to greet the Carnivores fighters.
Carnivores Before they closed.
Roger, Carnivores Commander book in hand ready to school me.
The following turn saw the fighters from both fleets neutralize each other. One Carnivores Star bomber was destroyed, the remaining bombers made a flanking move , ending nearly in the Terran Fleet rear.
The fire from both fleets was hectic . A Carnivore destroyer was damaged. The Terran Navy shields held off a lot of hits.
Despite some awesome maneuvering, the Carnivores realized they had too much speed built up for the next turn. They were going to lose the ships thar had flanked the Terrans. The Star bombers paid the price as the Terrans found the range of the fragile gunboats and destroyed the rest of the squadron.
The remaining turn became anti rather than climatic when the Terran Fleet removed from the area. No need to stay now, the3 enemy is identified and reduced by the gunboats.
The Carnivores planned trap snapped shut on empty space. The price was high in gunboats and fighter's, but those are more expendable than Fleet ships.
On the bridges in the Terran Navy squadron, the faces of the commander's were in smiles. There were a few fighters lost, but the pilots were picked up before the fleet broke off.
Which is more than one could say about the Carnivores Star bombers.
