Daharra's follow through

Two beautiful summer days followed the defeat at Stone Bridge, slowing no one's march from the battlefield to the next showdown.  In fact three bridges were being contested, albeit in varying degrees of strength. The command of the main K&K column had changed, the previous commander went down under his horse stumbled during the retreat.

The 'Blood of the Fold' or whatever they fancy to call themselves,  are being pushed and prodded by their minders, uh em, spiritual guiders assigned to the army. Without carrying at least two of the bridges, the Fold's supply lines will become vulnerable. The veterans of  the Battle of Stone Bridge want to avenge their fallen comrades, the other groups hope to emulate their glory.

Less foot weary yet still busy were the K&K units assigned to the columns commanded by the Prince of Hesse, or those of  General Zebel and General Paumgarten.  Falling back over river lines means marching, but usually towards supplies, and certainly more than glory was to be at stake. The Imperial city of Grissburg was only a day's  march from one of the crossings.

The Prince of Hess was grim. He was less excited about the river defense schemes of his predecessor and more aware of fighting outnumbered.  Still, he'd rather the river to be his enemy's to cross than his.  There was a lot of spade work to provide even more challenge to his counterpart.

Rendera gabions. Swedish sappers from Eagle Miniatures.

 And more,

A good amount of grousing was heard in the ranks  but nothing indicated any real weakness as the Army Columns prepared for battle. There were several other thing to prepare.

 and yet more.

Napoleonic Swedish sappers. That's something you don't see very often. I must have another look at the Eagle range.

The sappers in the Eagle Miniatures Swedish list are more numerous than most lists. I bought them and they were near the gabions. That was that. Hopefully it helps on the table!
Thanks to our last battle we now have Gabon busters in the way of free 12# artillery!

It will leave us time to capture the rest of the battery.

They are having quite the tussle out there in the east of the known world. We are enjoying peace and solitude in the west...
Lovely gabions and great to see more of those Swedes.
Regards, James
