Eight days, four games.

Two Fridays of Blood Red Skies, two Saturdays at the store  with something new both times.

After a few false starts, Edgar treated  Greg and I  to his 15mm fantasy armies in a Mighty Armies game.

Reminiscent of DBA (Edgar said ' DBA with a personality')  I took a human conditierre army against  a dwarven  host. I had to leave partway through the game. Greg took battle honors in the engagement, but I will go back for another round, soon.

That was two weeks back, last Saturday we all played (actually I umpired since I had read the rules once.) our first game of Rebels and Patriots.  French against British & Brunswickers... we had a bridge, the British/Brunswick force were the aggressors. Greg took the Brits, Edgar the French.

There were two Avante Garde (rifle armed) skirmisher units, one British rifle armed skirmish unit and a light infantry unit of Brunswickers.  The three rifle armed units were sharpshooters, the light infantry had muskets.

The French had four musket armed skirmisher units, one with better morale (discipline 1) .

The scenario had honor points available for various tasks.  Edgar is protecting the bridge to protect his score. The ext unit is in some earthworks.

A good shot of most of the game at that end. Greg was not able to get the Avant Garde squad to make a dent in the defenders. The shooting was for both sides less than effective.

Shot at the other end of the field...Greg has three units in attempt to cross the river and roll up the lower redoubt. Due to the skirmish ability of all the units on the table and the cover available to all units as they were all skirmish , musketry results were feeble.  Eventually Edgar lost a unit, then Greg lost the Brunswick lights, then one of the Avant Garde units faltered.

The game ended on turn 8, the bridge and the redoubts still in Edgar's hand, and the units retiring two to one in his favor, he was declared the winner of the day.

All three of us knew 'mistakes were made' in the game play and we will be back. Greg got the rules at the store 10  minutes before we started and Edgar has some on order. Maybe a solo game or two before our next meet?

On the work table, lest you think I dwawdle:

A good time with two distinguished gentlemen! Thank you both!
“Mistakes were made”, indeed, the story of my gaming life.
I think I’ll relinquish any honors earned as I believe I used the bonus discipline on all units…
That’s a lot of gaming! R&P is an easy game to pick up and plays quite quickly.

Jonathan, I did rest up after all that. Just painting and watching this snow come down.

Edgar, that was minor, we did poorly on shooting and probably morale as well. Throw together a list of names for next time and we'll prepare a stable of officers for a proper set of games.

The title says it all Joe - well done indeed on your prodigious gaming feat! A nice variety of games played, too.

Sounds and looks like you've been very busy!

Keith & Ray,
If the weather holds I may get in a game the 19th and 20th. They are small affairs for now but as the weather gets warmer the logistics for a game become easier.
Rebels and Patriots is a system that we just started but seems pretty well documented to work most any period in the time frame mentioned. The airwar dynamics of Bloody Red Skies has just been scratched and we have scenarios to try out and a stable of not yet committed aircraft.
