Weather, or naught

Got a call for assistance from Peter ( Gonsalvo to most of you ) for a copy of the weather chart for Warplan 5x5. Here is what we are talking about.

The first is January to June

The second side is cleverly enough from July to December.

Which begs the question, do many of you out there use weather in your campaigns?

I have never really wargamed a whole campaign although I do intend to do so in the future, the idea of weather has not occurred to me until this post, more to think about!!

Certainly interesting and no weather rarely gets a mention in our games.

That looks a bit complicated?

Maybe I should explain the use. I forget about how ingrained it is in our campaigns.
I rarely fight a campaign. I did not know that Warplan had a weather table.

Thanks so much for digging this up, Joe. I used the weather my first Warplan 5/5 campaign (circa 1970!), and it definitely affected some of the battles (notably rain, high heat, IIRC). I recall with distaste a virtual hurricane wrecking a certain fleet at the outset of a previous campaign, that will not be spoken of further! :-)

I haven't added weather to games before other than movement through affected terrain. However, I plan to use it in future games to more accurately reflect a historical scenario.

Must admit the weather is rarely considered in my games

We have tried using weather in a few games but found it unbalanced things too much. Campaigns might be different, although from memory we have always assumed the campaigning season occurs during good weather.

I'm with Ray; I can make more sense from a synoptic chart Joe! :)

It was truly a soup to nuts set of rules.

I remember the horror of that storm. As I rolled through the decisions & dice rolls, I knew i would never live it down. But at the time.....

The best use of weather in a game!

"It never rains" in our games unless both sides agree to use the rules.

James (and Ray) I will walk through its use. You may find it interesting. Another post is the way to do it.
