Carlist Cavalry unit

Merinos' Cavalry , 1st Carlist War.  Red hats and yellow coats, these folk's are not slinking about at all.

I am experimenting with mounted units that are not in the time frame for Napoleonic rules used and are representing eras with small action games to come.

So the oval or pillbox style base, figures singly mounted sand coated and army colored base will be shown, for troops beyond 1815; while the Austrian/Prussian/Russian units to follow in the coming months will be on 2x2 bases as in the past.

All eight figures

Leader up front, as it should be.

 A few in passing.

Bringing up the rear.

The light box was helpful with these figures, I expect to keep improving how I use it.

What a uniform! The first Carlist War is a great one to do, lovely uniforms and not too big armies. Lovely work on them, I like the bases too, they look very nice.

Viva el Christo Rey! Yellow is always a difficult colour, but very nice as a uniform.....

Nice paint job there, Joe - they look very familiar - I am sure our gaming mate Mark has these in his extensive Carlist war collection!

Project has been a slow burn for several years. It will
L finally get to small brigade size this coming year. Thanks for the mention of the bases, they are the first using the ochre scheme. I agree that the uniforms are great in this era.

Thanks, Neil
. In this case Army Painter speed paints were helpful.

Keith, I have seen these or the Lance armed forces on Mark's site. He has quite the collection, several era's of splendid forces.

These dashing fellows look lovely Joe. Looking forward very much to seeing them joined by the others that you have planned.

Egads! Carlists! Certainly a fine demonstration that colorful uniforms are not limited to the Napoleonic and 7 Years Wars eras!
