A few days of thinking about what is next

Things were hectic for a few weeks,  real world style,  that did not have a day where three of us could be at the same place on Friday.  This lead to two interesting games of Silver Bayonet,  one  set in Egypt and the other Italy.  What this means is that I have played with the theme unit for 10 plus games . The occasional substitute of a sailor or native has helped, but the core force has started to show its worth.

Part of the Egyptian battle series.

Davik Island patrol?

I have a series of unfortunate events that will unfold in some solo and small scenario games. I am toying with the Silver Bayonet rules sans the supernatural as a rule set for  skirmish games.

There are a couple new projects that I am considering.  One involves sieges in the Vauban fortress background.  Another choice is an addition of Ottoman Turks in Napoleonic period.

The VSF is a possibility for the "no new stuff needed " as recently acquired Hinterland units and flying armored balloons are available for the scenario generation.

  Water hazards.

On the imagination campaign,  I have to wrap up a strategic turn, report in to the rulers,  and set up for the next turn.

I have decided to go to two sets of rules for games that are higher than skirmish levels but smaller than corp size.

The Rebels and Patriots set is one.  The AWI project is the main focus, with a nod to other small projects.

The other rules set is the Chocolate Box Wars by Ed M's.

This last rules set is a free download into what seems to be well thought out rules for late 19th Century battles of Brigade/Division size. It's also a good test of my FPW/Early 19th Century castings whose last tabletop adventures were too long ago,

All great ideas start life as small ideas... 😁

Excellent game again, Joe. I also like the Egyptian Campaign with all of its exotic trappings. Rebels and Patriots is a good set of rules but I also like The Men Who Would Be Kings, especially the way it uses a die per figure for shooting and combat.

Now that the weather is getting agreeable , we hit the sweetspot where the shed is open for bigger games. Some good games are coming.

Long ago, quarterly games were the best we could manage. Planning was quite necessary, but part of the fun. Trying to bring a little of that back.

Dean, Egypt was a good venue. We certainly had a lot of terrain. The Italy book is surprisingly interesting and the scenario in the next report is from that. Thanks for the analysis on the two rules sets. I had not considered the MWWBK, But it is on my shelf.....
