Summer Reading

Helion publishing had a sale, I bit on some specific batches and believe I have the summer reading list for my 2025 season.

I wanted to know more of the post Borodino story...this should help.

Some more detail on the Swedes in the period.

The real deal, Glantz's Barbarossa set, to include OOB (vol 3) and map atlas ( vol. 4). The first two volumes are roughly 650 pages each. Cross reference heaven. I imagine a few scenario ideas to pop up.

Books arrived in good shape,  all in one box of goodness.  I flipped open the book on the Northern alliance and scanned the Leipzig battle,  reading something about the deployment of the attack on the gates by the Swedes. I get to alter my units , something that I can do happily.

I will report in as I read this batch, sharing nuggets...."and mightily bored you'll be " to paraphrase the briefing in " A Bridge Too Far."  Off to read more about 1810.

Yes, and glad for it. Already have a reason to fix the plumes of the light company figures.

An impressive pile of books, Joe - I will be particularly interested in your view on the Glantz books - he seems to pop up quite often in various docos I watch about the Russian Front on YouTube

Nice haul of books and of course you don't have to paint them! The Napoleonic ones look really good, luckily I don't know when Helion have their sales, otherwise I would be considerably poorer, I've gradually built up various books on Leipzig, it's a very interesting battle!
Best Iain

Neil, it will be a good summer! Lots to divide attention and effort.

Iain, I could send the link for the newsletter from Helion if you'd like. :-) Part of my summer is to read some 1813 t campaign pieces and paint through my Austrian forces. I suppose the reading will be done first.

Keith, I can recommend any of his work on the East Front. I think four or five of his other books are already on the shelf.

Helion is usually good. I go for their ebooks, many of which are available on the Hoopla library app - even a few of the wargaming ones!
