A map of the area of play. The maps are from the GDW  " Fire in the East " game, these are the two map sheets for the Western Military District. The extensive Pripyet marshes so take up space and reduce the road net significantly----‐for both sides.

The circular markers are suitable to denote the army involved, but  But little else.

The rectangle markers are showing that the cities are still under Russian control.

The map transfers to table with one hex equal to 20 inches.  A typical size game will represent an area of three hexes by two hexes;  60 inches by 40 inches.

The front, orientation turned 90 degrees. Bialyostock is the upper target,  Brezc an Bugiem is in mid page.

The last photo is showing the German column's at start.  The next step includes several games where the action can be linked to the results from other games.  Initially the German player has  artillery set up in direct support fire and a few air missions to schedule.  The Soviet Army is under several disadvantages in the first few hours including a general one hour delay in movement and order release.

Movement for the game map is made by hour and follows a Movement Chart that allows a one hex move by infantry units in clear terrain and armor units an 8 hex move if all movements by the unit are on a road.

Which units are represented by the counters are detailed in the campaign logs kept at the column  level.

The first hour has the lead attacks against Bialyostock and Breszc an Bugiem. Both locations have a battalion of the 7th Rifle Brigade and attached units.

The German column's at start include units from the 2nd Panzer and the 2nd Infantry Divisions.   The overall map of each of the first two battles is as follows. Each turn on the table is one hour of the map move. Situations can change quickly.
