I have some of those in my basement --- 1980's dark elf lizard riders

End of a Saturday game at the local store.  Packed up and overhearing portions of a discussion at the next table about a GW product's history.

They were comparing notes on what they knew or had seen about 'Cold Ones,' a lizard large enough to be ridden as a mount.  One gamer remembered a version being gamed from the early 2000's. Another  remembered 10 o so years prior a different version.

The store manger mentioned there were metal versions  before 1990.  Disbelief was uttered and I high signed 'I have a couple,' to him.

And here they are. I have been told they were sculpted by Bob Naismith back in 1985. I had picked them up at local stores late 1980's/early 1990's.

and painted them within a year or two. The store manger says the figures date to three years before he was born.

Hmmm, now I feel old. But I like the metal beasts better than the plastic replacement mounts.

Great looking old school Warhammer. I only got into WHFB late in the game, and only played a few games. However, I love the 6th Ed. Empire infantry figures.
Makes me harken back to the original Bretonian Lord figures that I first started with all those years ago!

These are certainly a blast from the past…
They are all Marauder Miniatures made by myself and Trish ( Which eventually became part of the Citadel range) except for the figure with the raised sword in the third picture which is by Bob Naismith…
Released in 1990
Bob’s one would have been released a couple of years before…
There were also none Slotta- based versions made by the Perry Twins made even earlier…
People seemed to like Dark Elves on Cold Ones ( Lizards)

All the best. Aly

ALy, Thank you, and apologies for the mistaken appellation as to the sculpting! Yes I remember Marauder Miniatures being home to some very cool sculpts 'back in the good old days.'

Thanks everyone for the kind words and info. Now I don't feel so bad that the store owner is " younger " than the figures.
