Gathering clouds Imagination 1803 Campaign

Note to non 1803 imagination players- just stirring the pot, nothing to see here folks.

"You can't expect me to believe that no one harbors   the expansion of the kingdom in their bosom," fretted the Queen to the King, "the house of Pruss must expand its forces to meet the threat, however passive the country appears !"  The Queen was a godsend in crisis, such as the Dahara invasion.  During peace, especially one as fraught with nuances as this period, , the Queen can be annoying-with her talk and saber rattling, and otherwise speaking her mind.

Otto could not dispute with her on facts. Scania had in the last year increased artillery by 20% added a half dozen new foot regiments and a cavalry regiment had just taken its place on the morning border patrols.  Even the other half of the Empire gave up nearly all its artist  investment in order to allow the first three new line regiments to be called on in a  month or so from now.

So the remainder of the 24th regiment  was to be raised...the only infantry raised since the Daharran invasion.  The only other infantry feasible for Pruss would be some Landwehr.  But what the King really wants is cavalry, the kind to stand and deliver charges to the enemy units and glory to the army.  Not to mention more guns. The Ultima Ratio Regis.

Farther north......

Indeed,  the Thing of Things ( Scania's highest legislative body) was listening to a state of the forces report the week prior. A copy of the main points of the report was sent to the military attache's of the neighbor states.  A plan to finalize the original expansion was adopted by the legislative body.  All three arms of service are to be increased.

Unit of Hanover Light Dragoons

The Carlist provinces in Orbajosa coalesce into a more cohesive area and talk is of the small but growing Artillery and Cavalry  forces    under arms.

The United Merchants League has plans to add another infantry brigade, some six battalions to its forces to meet treaty obligations and to have for defense.

It's understood that the new ruler of Arquady is expected to increase the percentage of locally raised troops  to reduce reliance on support from other Electors.

And yet.........

This all against the backdrop of three nations at war,  Bayerische  and Orbajosa are quiescent to date, and Brunswick and Hanover are turned inward at present.  There is talk about how Daharan forces included some religious elements in others countries acting as agents and fifth columnists. Others claim old entities representing practices long forbidden and forgotten gain strength in times of upheaval.

Several rulers have attempted to solve the execution of the Emperor Elect in the spring.  They may be asking the wrong question.  Perhaps their own safety should be reviewed.

(Most of the units mentioned are in my 6 month painting queue.)

Much saber rattling and troops raising, but who is actually at war with whom...

S'Gottland and Dahara have crossed Fuddland's borders.

The Basques are a rebel province to your country, at least according to your history. (don't look, I made that up.) Potential for strife is high.

The geographic upper tier of countries seem to be peaceful/ Except for that the Duke of Brunswick is having plant related problems.
