October ends Prime weather period almost over

Last week in October, cold weather predicted for Halloween and November is ...well November. Traditionally very little gets primed once the gales of November come.

But I did stock up today a lot of 1/300th scale airplanes and the next squadron of Blood Red Skies, USAAF P47s.

Also the final Friday gets us the last scheduled  Silver Bayonet game for awhile.  We played Scenario 4 from the Carpathian supplement.

First off with show and tell,

a preview of Roger's next patrol, the Austrians, figures from Northstar.

Seems as though Greg has scored a Betty for his nascent IJN air wing.  Big green craft next to the Zero!

The scenario featured 4 staircases, from which a big deal was made the groups descend from to enter.  This did not seem to affect tactics, but it was an excuse to make stairwells.

A shot of Roger's Bavarians. Lovely blue shade.

The table, or at least most of it. The missing corner had the other half of Greg's force arriving.

The central square terrain is supposed to be a fire pit with 'magical green fire.'  Which is obviously not something I accomplished modelling.

The scenario did not lend itself to more than two players. Basically they came, they explored, they avoided the living suits of armor that assaulted them, and safely returned upstairs.

Next week, our adventure in micro armor and the 1980's Cold War via  7 Days to the Rhine River.

Last but not least, an addition to the Halloween spookiness this year:

  Always wanted a fog machine!

Cold weather has descended upon the PNW too. First snow this week and temps into the low 20s. I better pick up the pace on fall primering season. Looking forward to your visit to gaming the Cold War.

A quick show n tell before a game is always a good start, Joe! Like Jon, I am looking forward to seeing your Cold War Gone Hot game!

Feverish staff prep work continues in the headquarters of both factions. There will even be photos. We will start playing the 3rd and do a game a week through November.

Interesting mix of figures, Joe. The temperature here in Western Washington has dropped about 20 degrees in the last week. Have fun with the fog machine too!

Lovely looking Austrians and Bavarians, sounds like fun, a fog machine? Better do the battle of Barnet!
Best Iain
