Airplanes, Roofs and a rainy day

 Preview for Friday's game.

On Friday, the weather was good, both Roger and Greg were able to make it.

Our fledgling efforts for Blood Red Skies are starting to get better and more varied scenarios than just dog fighting.  With Roger's presence after some minor medical issues that have prevented his flight training,  the perfect role for him was....Bomber pilot.

The Emily made its debut so big I needed to turn the camera sideways to fit it in shot.

Roger dutifully flew straight and level with a flight of Greg's Zeros in support.  The target was Henderson Field, , defended by my P38 squadron.

Crude at the start, Henderson Field and environs will be revisited in the near future.

Note the tower and flack halfback in the lower left.

The Emily is swarmed by most of the P38 squadron.  Everyone missed the plane, big and green as it was!

Turned out Roger spent his five minutes of prep reading the bombing rules.  I was caught corrected by the fact the rules say targets within 6 inches can be bombed. No need to fly directly over to unload ordnance.

Good close up of the Emily's bomb run..

I envision the main base to be a modelled 6 inch by 6 inch area. Someday.

Actual combat at moment of the bomb run.

We called the game training, ended on a high note, and plotted more subjects for Friday games.

Then I continued on painting roofs.  More on that next post.

That certainly looks like a swarm of P38's joe - how do the training/bombing mission go - was the target successfully hit?

Yup, the P38 squadron is on a futile attempt to stop the bomb run. Each plane had from 5 to 7 shots, two hits took. The bomb e had five attempts, with two successes. The airfield has taken damage but is repairable.

That looked like a fun game Joe, and good to get the big bomber into action.

I am more impressed with the game the more I play. The scenarios are very adaptable.

Scenarios are especially important for aerial, Sci-Fi ship, and naval actions. A good source is worth the p[rice just for that!

Every game is better with a story behind it.
