Tale of two games

Battletech and Command Decision test of battle.

The next few weeks will be details on the setup for some linked games in both rules sets.  While not related to each other and definitely different to my mind, there are two themes that I can try to explore.  The first one is that of linking situations and using a point to point map for the BattleTech games.  Since the system is new  to me and the likely players that will be available the next few games will use more the framework in the rules.

We had two games covering basic movement,  shooting and damage allocation.  I'd like to add the lance/star unit level.  This adds to the complexity in the game as certain skills that supplement shooting or damage infliction may be added to members of the star or lance.

The figures in this Alpha strike set number 13. I was able to cobble together three lances from the package mechs, a Fire Lance, a Scout lance and a support lance. Two packages of tank/AC/helicopter /scouts provide four lances of vehicles----three hunter and a scout.

Greg has similar but larger forces  in both Mech and non-mech assets.

Note to this week's game :Using the lance/star as the combat formations, various extra abilities are available. Terrain remained primarily random placed and off board assets were discussed but not used.

Left flank, my viewpoint , end turn 1.

After two rounds of shooting, one mech of mine retreated with no armor and only two system points. another soon followed

Not very tidy, but we are still learning.

  Casualties mount for Edgar

 Just love those smoke markers!

A pleasant  couple of hours spent on a Friday afternoon. More later in the week, as I try to add off board assets and planning. If we get far enough along, a full fledged  marked map might be useful''

About the other game. you know, the 1941 East Front.

There is an approach to make the situation into It is something I would like to discuss in another post.
