December plans and a milestone

  This just in---

Gentle readers, you are reading the 600th entry on the blog.  In the past I have deleted six or so entries from the blog as they had lost any value,  whether they lacked hobby useful ideas or something that was very interesting only in the moment.

November finished with a whimper,  an under the weather day that did allow some time for the struggle in the campaign of the three belligerent nations to be mapped out.  There,  that's me whining I didn't make it to the game store Saturday.

So even without the deleted files,  this is number six hundred. Thank you for your patience with the butterfly moments and always courteous comments.

December is different.  Pictures. Even used the light box.

So without further fluffing, today's agenda:

Hinterland highlights :

The figures are being drafted and drilled in the Hinterland parade ground,  units are drawing equipment available and identified requirements are being requisitioned today.

Had to put some flesh on faces and hands!

Operator, can you help me place this call?

Motor elements are requisitioned to be supplied to recon and fire support.  A few specialists are being identified for the Naval detachment.  Suitable figures as possible allies are being considered.

Air highlights:

Plans for a December 7th inspired scenario for Blood Red Skies to take place next Saturday are in place.   Also, there is a small test of a variation on Avalon Hill's Midway game , based on the Coral Sea area being done. This should turn into a short campaign on a Friday game soon.

The Seas (and things that go on them ) highlights

The fleet actions heat up. There are probably some 5 or 6  actions to be fought as part of the expedition to an island by Dahara,  whose bellicose demeanor has spilled into the Seas. Using Black Sails, Wooden Ships & Iron Men, or some other rules set on water, a charming diversion from the grim plains of Fuddland is coming. Warning, these engagements will all be small as far as the numbers of ships.

Growlers and Gainfuls   assembled:

Both Grumblers assembled in travel positions

Gainful battery with one launcher, one radar track.

Hopefully the next showing of the Sam units will be in camo, or at least the Warpac green.

Test on a green for some of the mounted.

Jonathan, thank you. Coming from as accomplished a blogger as yourself, much appreciated. BTW I am still working up my response to Rebels and Patriots.

Well done on reaching 600 Joe - and you seem to have the usual eclectic mix of projects on the go - I am looking forward to seeing your Hinterland figures painted - I have a unit of the sailors in my RCW collection - I do have the command figures pictured too, but given they are attired for something a bit earlier, or in a colonial setting, I have not found a use for them as yet!

The Hinterland figures are a pet project that goes back over a decade ago. The Huzzar group is the in Homeland, the long duster and slouch hats denote the High Colonies troops and the Naval uniforms are from the Wasser Gruppe establishment. On the Lead Adventure forum there are many different takes on using the various categories, from VBCW to Colonial to Pulp. These units will be painted through out the year 2025. You met and mentioned one of the Colonels a long time ago on the blog posts.

I have a few more map exercises and troops to offer, nothing like your own campaign showcase but hopefully diverting. Thanks for the support!

Iain, glad you liked it. At the mid mark , it seems December is following November in the no show category for Friday games.
